With it being released on non-Microsoft stores such as steam, so there's an opportunity for Phantasy Star Online 2 Meseta to come out on PS4/PS5 and Turn down the line. If just the switch version was good. PSO2 on change is just a streamed version of Phantasy Star Online 2 and the input lag is really bad.To be fair, is it bad for people playing it where it is meant to be player? Or is it bad for those on the opposing side of the world hoping to play with a match streamed out of Japan? Japan on average has better internet speeds than the US, and can also be a lot smaller, so in case the servers are like in Chicago or Dallas then a person from say, California would probably have a higher ping than you'd get from probably just about anyplace in Japan playing on Japanese servers.
We can dream, even though it's unlikely there will be a ps4/5 version in NA, or if there is it will be an entirely different ecosystem, because the current characters are tied to a Xbox live account. Given how difficult it is to get Sony and Microsoft to play nice together, I doubt we will have the ability to log into our Xbox accounts on Playstation anytime soon, and I doubly doubt they will execute a new account to tie your personalities to just so we can log into there. If so, then I will point out that in all fairness, that is Minecraft. It among the greatest gaming properties on earth at this point, so restrictions that apply in the cases of games will get actual effort become bypassed if there's enough demand there.
Well I am bummed, I wanted to perform the NA version but I am having a wide range of issues on PC. I tried installing it through the MS Store on a secondary drive and it dumped a whole lot of files in the main directory of this drive (probably MS Store stuff) and then some data in my Documents directory. I uninstalled it and it didn't seem to remove anything, and that I had to fiddle about with permissions to receive all the stuff in the root directory to delete. Anyway I'm frustrated that Microsoft can not figure out how to install programs on a secondary drive in 2020 without dumping crap it needs. I guess I will check on Phantasy Star Online 2 again in a month.
If you're prepared to give it another try, I'd advocate using PSO2 Tweaker. That supports installing on drives. Should you go this route, you will want to join the PSO2 Discord server and browse the instructions on doing so carefully, as it is somewhat wonky. I rebooted my computer and it's downloading from the MS Store. I saw the PSO2 Tweaker devs added support for NA link, so I'm going to try it with the first download from the MS shop and see if Tweaker will update it. I started the PSO2 Tweaker I just today and it is currently downloading and installing the NA version for me personally. Neat!
What I want to know is how they are going to take care of accounts on other platforms (Steam)... am I going to need to start over or will I somehow be able to associate my XB account I've been playing on PC together and continue? If I will have to begin over and shed the money/time I have spent then I'm going to stop playing until the Steam version is available because I really don't enjoy how Microsoft handles accounts and pso2 sales the purchases. Not true, never had a problem with conducting Halo MCC. Gambling Services that PSO2 uses is different.
